Tinubu seeks senate confirmation of 3 non-career ambassadorial nominees

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a request to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of three non-career ambassadorial nominees.
The nominees include:
- Kayode Are – Ogun State
- Aminu Dalhatu – Jigawa State
- Ayodele Oke – Oyo State
The President’s request was contained in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Tinubu explained that the nominations were made in line with Section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution as amended. He urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointments of the nominees expeditiously” and extended his “assurances of highest consideration” to the lawmakers.
Akpabio subsequently referred the nominees to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello, with a directive to screen them and report back to the chamber within one week.
