Senator Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has alleged that her international passport is being withheld, preventing her from travelling abroad.

The lawmaker revealed the development during a live broadcast on Facebook on Tuesday morning, expressing concern over the restriction and its impact on her plans.

According to her, “Having completed the celebration of my second year, I decided to take a week off, and my passport is being withheld again. The same thing happened.”

Senator Akpoti did not provide further details on who was responsible for holding her passport or the reasons behind it.

“I have committed no offense and there is no order from the court to seize my passport and deny me traveling.

“The last time it happened, the officer in charge told us that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from traveling”.
