He previously served as Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Central Naval Command in Yenagoa, Director of Operations at the Naval Headquarters, and Chief of Naval Safety and Standards in Abuja.
In each role, he made significant contributions to fleet management, operational planning, and strategic coordination across maritime zones.

During his tenure commanding the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory in 2020, Abbas led major joint operations against piracy and illegal bunkering in the Gulf of Guinea.
His actions helped curb maritime crimes and improved collaboration among regional navies, earning him respect within the security community.
Achievements
Beyond field operations, Abbas also made his mark in maritime research and policy development.
