Abuja witnessed a royal moment on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, as the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, led a delegation of Ogbomoso traditional rulers on a courtesy visit to the office of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The gathering was more than ceremonial; it carried deep historical and cultural significance. Oba Olaoye, speaking on behalf of the Ogbomoso traditional council, praised the leadership of Prince Matthew and commended the impact of the two strategic government councils under his watch.

According to the revered monarch, the visit was both an expression of solidarity and a formal endorsement of the DG’s mandate. He emphasized that the Ogbomoso traditional institution stands firmly behind Prince Matthew and the objectives of PEAC and PFIPC, highlighting the councils’ critical role in shaping Nigeria’s economic and foreign intervention strategies.

Oba Olaoye, visibly impressed with what he saw during the visit, urged Prince Adeyemi to regard his appointment as a divine opportunity to serve the nation at a critical time. He noted that the current administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is working assiduously to rebuild Nigeria’s economy and stressed that the DG’s contribution through the councils would be pivotal to achieving this goal.

“The position you occupy is not just for you, but for the entire country. You must see it as a call to support this administration in its efforts to grow the Nigerian economy. Be assured that Ogbomoso people, home and abroad, are behind you,” the monarch said.

In his remarks, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew expressed gratitude to the Soun and the accompanying Obas for their fatherly support and encouragement. He pledged to uphold the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu and to drive the mandate of the councils with diligence and patriotism.

The Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) serves as the Presidency’s think-tank on economic matters, providing research driven analysis, policy guidance, and innovative strategies to stimulate growth, strengthen fiscal responsibility, and ensure inclusive development. On its part, the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is tasked with mobilizing international partnerships, attracting foreign investments, and coordinating strategic interventions that advance Nigeria’s global economic interests.

Prince Adeyemi emphasized that both councils are aligned with President Tinubu’s vision of repositioning Nigeria as a global economic player and restoring investor confidence in the country. “We will not relent until Nigeria stands firmly as the economic powerhouse of Africa,” he assured.

For the Soun of Ogbomosho Land and his council of chiefs, the visit was more than a show of tradition, it was a clear statement of support for a son of the soil now occupying such pivotal position.
