Tinubu okays new boards for NCC, USPF

In a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s communications and digital sector, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the formation of new boards for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
As part of the new appointments, Idris Olorunnimbe has been named Chairman of the NCC, while Dr. Aminu Maida will continue in his role as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Maida, who first assumed the position in October 2023, had his appointment confirmed by the Senate in November of the same year.
Olorunnimbe previously served on the board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee and spearheaded youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.

• Hajia Maryam Bayi – Former Director, Human Capital & Administration
• Col. Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd)

• Chris Okorie
• Princess Oforitsenere Emiko
• Secretary of the Board
For the USPF board, President Tinubu named Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, as Chairman, with Olorunnimbe serving as Vice Chairman.

The USPF was established by the Federal Government to promote universal access to information and communication technologies in rural, unserved, and underserved areas across Nigeria.
