As part of its ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts, the Biu Forum executives and stakeholders paid a courtesy visit to Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume on Thursday, July 31, 2025, for a productive roundtable discussion focused on community development and legislative collaboration.

Leading the delegation, Alhaji Mai Mustapha Muhammad, the National Chairman of the Forum, opened the dialogue by expressing heartfelt appreciation for Senator Ndume’s unwavering support for the group.

He specifically recalled the Senator’s presence at the Forum’s inaugural meeting in Kaduna, describing it as a testament to his dedication to the people of Biu and its environs.

During the meeting, the Forum presented a detailed checklist of concerns and requests, urging the Senator to consider possible interventions through legislative support, constituency projects, and advocacy at the national level.

The forum appealed to the Senator to urge the federal government to fulfill its obligation to complete the Biu Dam project. One of the contracting firms is already willing to continue work on the project, while the Borno State government remains committed to supporting it.

Alhaji Mustapha tabled critical issue of the poor federal road network in the Emirate.

He said “ the Biu Forum is appealing for urgent action to get the government to rehabilitate or reconstruct all roads along the Biu-Numan, Biu-Damaturu, Biu-Gombi, and Biu-Gombe routes.

According to him all the roads are in a state of disrepair, negatively affecting the quality of life of the residents.

The forum representatives also sought the intervention of the National Assembly regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB), a vital federal institution in the area.

Additionally, the Biu Forum emphasized the need to build a harmonious relationship and establish clear communication channels with the National and State Assembly members representing the area.

The meeting resolved to designate a day to celebrate the heroes of the area and to enhance understanding among the diverse communities of the Emirate.

Another resolution was to develop a program to empower women, reduce street hawking, improve girls’ education, and address the issue of out-of-school children.

This initiative aims to curb moral decadence, criminality, and poverty.

On his part Senator Ali Ndume thanked the esteemed members of the forum for their visit and promised to do everything possible to address the checklist of issues, all of which are crucial for the area’s development.

He added that this task is made easier by his cordial working relationship with Rt. Honorable Muktar Aliyu Betara, the lawmaker representing Biu, Bayo, Kwaya, and Shani federal constituency, as well as General Yusuf Tukur Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff—both critical stakeholders in the Biu Forum’s requests.

The meeting concluded with a clear understanding of the Senator’s commitment to addressing the key issues affecting Biu.

Both parties expressed their willingness to collaborate and work towards the area’s development.
