Breaking…Buhari’s body arrives Nigeria for burial in Daura

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have arrived in Nigeria from the United Kingdom ahead of his final burial rites scheduled to take place later today in Daura, Katsina State.
The late president’s body touched down at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the official delegation from London.
On hand to receive the body were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, members of Buhari’s immediate family, senior government officials, and a host of political allies and dignitaries. The somber moment marked the beginning of Nigeria’s last farewell to one of its most consequential leaders.
Buhari passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.

A former military ruler turned democratic president, Buhari served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a two-term elected president from 2015 to 2023. His leadership legacy remains a subject of national reflection, marked by his anti-corruption stance, infrastructural projects, and a deeply polarizing style of governance.
The body is now being transported to Daura, his hometown, where burial arrangements are underway in accordance with Islamic rites.
