Shock in Abuja as young woman’s body found by roadside

Residents of Jabi, a bustling district in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, woke up to a chilling discovery on Saturday morning—the lifeless body of a young woman lying along Abubakar Street, just off the busy Alex Ekwueme Way.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman—whose identity has not yet been confirmed—was found motionless by the roadside, raising immediate suspicions of foul play. Local passersby were visibly distressed, and within hours, images of the scene surfaced on social media, triggering widespread concern and calls for swift action from law enforcement.
As of the time of this report, authorities, including the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. The identity of the deceased and the cause of death remain unknown.

The incident adds to a growing list of similar cases in Abuja where young women have been found dead under unclear circumstances — both on the streets and in hotel rooms.
These disturbing patterns have raised alarm among human rights groups and residents, many of whom are demanding increased security measures and swift justice for the victims.
Efforts to reach the FCT Police Command for comment were unsuccessful.
