BREAKING: NECO releases 2025 BECE results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking an important milestone for students completing their junior secondary education across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, confirmed the release of the results and provided key details about the examination.
According to the council, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the BECE, which assessed students in 12 core subjects as part of the transition from Junior Secondary School (JSS3) to Senior Secondary School (SS1).
The examination took place between May 12 and May 23, 2025, and was successfully conducted nationwide across all participating centers without any major disruptions.
Sani stated that the release of the results followed the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting, held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State. He noted that the meeting brought together key stakeholders, including some secondary school principals from across the country and members of NECO management.

Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, who also serves as the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the entire process leading to the release of the results. She commended NECO for maintaining standards and transparency throughout the examination and result collation phases.
NECO confirmed that preparations have been concluded for the re-sit examination for candidates who failed Mathematics or English Studies.
“The Re-sit examination is scheduled to hold on 23rd and 24th July, 2025 for Mathematics and English Studies,” NECO announced.
The performances of the students were not captured in the statement.
