60-year-old father allegedly kills daughter during domestic dispute

A deeply tragic incident rocked the Dawakin Dakata Quarters of Kano State in the early hours of Monday, June 17, 2025, as Adamu Mohammed, a 60-year-old man, allegedly killed his 18-year-old daughter, Zainab Adamu, during a heated domestic altercation.
According to reports from local sources, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., when an argument between father and daughter reportedly escalated. In the midst of the dispute, Mohammed allegedly struck Zainab with a hard object, causing her to fall unconscious.
Shockingly, it took nearly two hours before a concerned neighbor raised an alarm, leading to the intervention of other residents.
Sources said that the scene was promptly visited by the police. The unconscious victim was rushed to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, where she was later confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor.

The remains of the deceased have been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
According to security analyst, police sources said that the suspect has been taken into custody while investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the act.
Community sources described the incident as deeply shocking and called for increased awareness and intervention to address the rising cases of domestic violence, particularly those involving family members.
