Bayelsa Queens set to make historic return to CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers

Reigning Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions, Bayelsa Queens, are gearing up for another shot at continental glory as they prepare to compete in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B zonal qualifiers.
The qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from August 9 to 24, 2025, were confirmed in a statement by the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B and published by the Ghana Football Association.
Fondly known as the “Prosperity Girls,” Bayelsa Queens are poised to make history as the first Nigerian women’s club to feature twice in the WAFU B qualifiers. Their debut appearance in 2022 was nothing short of spectacular—they clinched the title after defeating Burkina Faso’s US Forces Armées 3–1 in the final.

That victory paved the way for a groundbreaking performance at the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, where they secured an impressive third-place finish—the best-ever result by a Nigerian club in the competition.
Now, with eyes firmly set on a return to the continental stage, the Yenagoa-based side will aim to replicate and surpass their previous success as they take on the region’s best for a coveted spot in Africa’s premier women’s club tournament.
