Niger flood: Death toll rises to 161 as more bodies are recovered

The Niger State Government has announced the recovery of three additional bodies from the recent flood disaster that devastated parts of Mokwa Local Government Area, bringing the official death toll to 161.
According to government officials, two bodies were discovered on Tuesday evening, while another was recovered on Wednesday. All three have since been buried, as communities continue to reel from the tragic aftermath of the disaster.
In a heartfelt message, the State Government extended its profound gratitude to individuals, organizations, and institutions that have contributed to the ongoing relief efforts. These donations whether financial, material, or in kind have offered hope and comfort to displaced families and those who have suffered irreparable losses.
“As we continue to mourn the lives lost, we remain resolute in our commitment to support every affected family,” the government stated. “Your generosity has made a real difference, and for that, we are deeply grateful.”

The state reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the well-being of flood victims and urged the public to stay vigilant, especially as the rainy season intensifies.
As recovery efforts continue, the thoughts and prayers of the entire nation remain with the grieving families.
