As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its highly anticipated primary election in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), party chairman Alhaji Murthar Abubakar has made it clear: there will be no automatic ticket for recent defectors regardless of their political standing.
Speaking ahead of the June 21st primaries, Abubakar addressed growing speculation that the party might offer an automatic ticket to the incumbent AMAC chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, as a form of compensation for his recent defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“The APC remains committed to internal democracy. Everyone must go through the proper process, no matter when they joined,” Abubakar stated firmly.
Hon. Maikalangu had formally joined the APC last month, citing internal divisions within the PDP as his reason for leaving.
