Truck crushes 2 police officers at UNIBEN main gate

A devastating accident has left the University of Benin (UNIBEN) community in shock after two police officers were crushed to death by a moving truck at the institution’s main gate in Benin City, Edo State.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday at the busy Ugbowo campus entrance, where the officers were on duty. Eyewitnesses say the truck lost control before fatally hitting the officers.

Graphic videos of the aftermath, widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), show the lifeless bodies of the officers in uniform lying by the roadside, triggering panic and sorrow among students, university staff, and passersby.

As of the time of this report, the Edo State Police Command has not issued an official statement, and the identities of the victims remain unconfirmed.
