Nigerian gospel legend, Big Bolaji dies at 50

Renowned Nigerian gospel artist Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, fondly known as Big Bolaji or simply Big B, has passed away at the age of 50.
His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in an official statement released on Saturday, April 19, 2025, revealing that the beloved singer died on Easter Saturday following a brief illness.
Big Bolaji was widely celebrated for his vibrant stage presence, spirit-lifting songs, and unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel through music. For decades, he played a prominent role in Nigeria’s gospel music scene, becoming a mentor and inspiration to many emerging artists.

Known for hosting dynamic gospel concerts and events, Big B’s influence extended far beyond the pulpit. His unique sound and passion for worship made him a household name across churches and gospel music circles both in Nigeria and abroad.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B,’ a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community, an ordained Pastor in the RCCG and a giant in the music industry and our community. Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness,” the family said.
The statement described his passing as a heartbreaking loss, noting that his absence has created a void that cannot be filled.
