Panic as security forces disperse rioters on Kubwa expressway

Security forces fired tear gas and gunshots on Wednesday, March 26, to disperse rioters on the Kubwa Expressway near Efab Bridge, Abuja.
Eyewitnesses reported that protesters set tyres on fire, causing severe traffic disruptions in the area. There are also reports that at least one person was shot, though the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
“The riot is around Efab Bridge, on Kubwa Expressway. They are burning tyres, and gunshots could be heard, but I don’t know what caused the issue,” an eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the development. The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said of the incident,
“I heard about it, and we have deployed officers to the area. I will get the details when they are back.”
Authorities have urged commuters to avoid the area as security personnel work to restore order.
