Nigeria’s Flamingos set to battle Algeria for 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup spot

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, are one step away from securing their place at the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
They will face Algeria in the final qualifying round after both teams emerged victorious in their respective second-round encounters.
The Flamingos booked their spot in the decisive round with an impressive 5-1 aggregate win over South Africa, showcasing their dominance over the weekend. On the other hand, Algeria earned their place after defeating Botswana 4-0 in the second leg of their tie on Sunday, sealing a 5-2 aggregate triumph.

With Africa allocated four spots in the expanded 24-team tournament, both Nigeria and Algeria will now battle for a coveted ticket to the global stage.
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025. Nigeria will be aiming to continue their impressive record at this level, having finished third in the 2022 edition.
