Innocent C. Ike is a distinguished Nigerian banker, chartered accountant, and investment executive with over 30 years of leadership experience in the financial services sector.

Widely respected for his expertise in banking transformation, digital innovation, and investment strategy, he was appointed Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc in August 2025.

Background

A graduate of the University of Lagos, Ike finished as the Best Graduating Student in Accounting in 1988.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB), a Certified IFRS Expert, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (ACIS).

His global executive education spans world-class institutions including Oxford University (Said Business School), MIT Sloan, Harvard Business School, Wharton, and IMD Switzerland.

Career highlights

Ike began his banking career at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), serving in investment banking, commercial banking, and operations.

He later joined Access Bank Plc, where he spent a decade rising to General Manager, overseeing corporate, commercial, and public sector portfolios.

He went on to become Executive Director at Keystone Bank Limited before moving to Polaris Bank Limited, where he was appointed Group Managing Director/CEO in 2020.

Transformation at Polaris Bank

At Polaris Bank, Ike drove a remarkable transformation.

He launched VULTe, the bank’s flagship digital platform, which won several awards including Digital Bank of the Year from 2021 to 2024 and MSME Bank of the Year in 2022.

His leadership also culminated in the successful divestment of the bank, a milestone that earned him recognition as a forward-looking and results-driven leader.

Ike’s influence extends beyond traditional banking.

He has served as Chairman of Skye Bank Gambia and sat on the boards of MainOne Cable Company Limited, Unified Payments Systems Limited, and Pay Attitude Global Limited.

Outside corporate leadership, Ike contributes to national development as Chairman of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Training (CENT) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), where he mentors aspiring entrepreneurs.
