9 injured in Bassa–Fulani clash over farmland in Abuja’s Kwali area

A violent clash between Bassa farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Gomoni Village, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, has left at least nine people injured.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the confrontation erupted around 3:30 p.m. on August 9 after cattle allegedly strayed into farmlands, destroying melon and maize crops belonging to the Bassa community.

Following a distress call, Nigerian Army troops, a joint security team, and local vigilantes swiftly intervened to quell the violence. Six Bassa and three Fulani victims, all sustaining varying degrees of machete wounds, were rushed to Rhema Foundation Hospital in Kwali for medical treatment.
