Lagos council chairman passes away after prolonged illness

The Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State is in mourning following the death of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Musibau Asafa.
His passing, which followed a prolonged illness, was confirmed in an official statement released on Facebook by his Chief Press Secretary, Bodunrin Ayodele, on Saturday. While the announcement did not specify the exact date of his death, it noted that the local government has been thrown into deep grief.
Hon. Asafa was known for his dedication to grassroots development and his commitment to the welfare of residents in Oto-Awori. His leadership was marked by various community-focused initiatives and efforts to improve infrastructure within the LCDA.
“Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area is in mourning following the passing of its Executive Chairman, Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa,” the statement read.

“Prince Asafa, a respected politician, leader and dedicated public servant, succumbed to a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people he served.”
A family source reportedly confirmed that the chairman had battled an extended illness. Despite sustained medical attention, he eventually passed away, leaving a deep sense of grief among loved ones and colleagues.
“As news of his passing spreads, tributes and condolences are expected to pour in from well-wishers, community leaders, and government officials who had the privilege of working with him. Prince Asafa’s leadership was marked by a commitment to improving the lives of his constituents, and his contributions to the local government will be deeply missed.
“Oto-Awori LCDA has lost a dedicated servant, and his passing will be felt by many. May his legacy live on, and may his family find solace in the memories of his life and service,” the statement added.
