Tragedy in Bayelsa as unidentified woman found dead in hotel room

A somber mood has settled over the Igbogene community in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following the tragic discovery of a young woman’s lifeless body in a hotel room on Saturday.
According to local sources, the unidentified woman had checked into the hotel earlier that day alongside a man suspected to be an internet fraudster, commonly referred to in Nigeria as a ‘Yahoo boy.’ However, tensions arose when the man was later seen leaving the hotel alone, raising concern among hotel staff.
Hours later, the hotel manager reportedly discovered the woman unresponsive in the room and quickly notified the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters.
“The lifeless body of a young girl was found in a hotel at Igbogene on Saturday causing confusion in the area.
“She lodged in the hotel with a suspected Yahoo boy who left immediately after.
“The hotel manager who found the dead body reported the incident to the police at Igbogene,” a source said.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Muhammad, said officers have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Muhammad stated, “We received the report yesterday; though no arrest has been made for now, an investigation is ongoing.
“We are making serious enquiries to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Also, an autopsy would be run on the deceased to ascertain the cause of the death.”
As of press time, police had not released the identity of the deceased, and no arrests had been made.
