Nasarawa United fined N6m, banished to Gombe over security lapses

Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia has been hit with heavy sanctions by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following disturbing incidents during their home fixture against Plateau United on Sunday.
The NPFL has slammed the club with a total fine of ₦6 million for multiple breaches of league regulations, primarily relating to inadequate security and failure to control fan behavior.
According to the league body, Nasarawa United was fined ₦1 million each for poor security arrangements and for not managing the conduct of their supporters during the heated encounter. A further ₦3 million was imposed due to repeated violations of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
In addition, the club must pay ₦1 million to cover medical expenses and compensation for Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope, who suffered bodily harm during the incident.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Nasarawa United has also been banished from their home ground and will now play the remainder of their home matches this season at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
The NPFL further directed the club to identify the individual responsible for the assault on Temitope and ensure legal action is pursued with evidence of prosecution submitted to the league.
