Rangers win 2025/26 NPFL championship

Rangers International have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the ninth time after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos on Sunday.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side started strongly and took an early lead when Chidiebere Nwobodo found the back of the net in the 30th minute.

Nwobodo doubled the visitors lead 10 minutes after the break.

Ikorodu City, who also needed a win to boost their chances of securing a place on the continent reduced the deficit through Moses Ali two minutes before the hour mark.

Rivers United finished second after a 3-0 home win over Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Chijioke Mbaoma bagged a brace for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon scored the other goal.
