The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reportedly killed several terrorists during coordinated airstrike operations carried out around Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide area of the Mandara Mountains in Borno State.

NAF spokesperson, Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, noting that the strikes targeted suspected terrorist hideouts and operational zones within the affected areas.

According to Ejodame, the military operation followed credible intelligence reports and was backed by confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions before the strikes were carried out.

According to him, NAF air assets destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly points concealed within the enclaves, while also neutralising several insurgents and disrupting planned attacks.

He noted that the strikes formed part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and deny them freedom of action in the North-East theatre of operations.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to sustained joint operations with other security agencies and allied partners aimed at eliminating terrorism and restoring peace across the country.

“The CAS stressed that intelligence-driven air operations will continue to identify and destroy terrorist hideouts, logistics networks, and operational bases wherever they exist,” Ejodame stated.
