Hayatu-Deen picks ADC presidential nomination form ahead of 2027 elections

Presidential hopeful Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has officially picked up the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential expression of interest and nomination forms as he sets his sights on the 2027 elections. The renowned economist pledged to tackle key issues facing Nigerians, including insecurity, unemployment, and the rising cost of living.
Hayatu-Deen is the first aspirant to obtain the ADC’s presidential nomination form. He received it from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo—a milestone his supporters see as a strong indicator of growing momentum for his campaign, according to a statement from his media team on Friday.
Shortly after receiving the N100m forms, Hayatu-Deen, in the statement, said the 2027 election should focus on restoring the nation’s economic stability and strengthening security.
Hayatu-Deen, as contained in the statement, said, “Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford.
This election cannot be about politics as usual. It must be about how to secure our communities, rebuild confidence in the economy, create jobs at scale, and make life more affordable for millions of Nigerians.
“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built.”

The ADC presidential hopeful also promised to implement policies that would lower business costs, support small businesses, create more opportunities for youths, and promote inclusive economic growth.
He continued, “I have spent decades helping businesses grow and supporting the creation of jobs. I understand what it takes to build institutions, unlock investment, and create opportunities at scale. Nigeria has the talent and potential to succeed, but we need disciplined leadership and serious execution. This is why I am putting my best foot forward.”
The ADC has scheduled the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms from May 6 to May 13.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state House of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that party primaries and the resolution of related disputes would be conducted between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
According to the commission, campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state Assembly elections are slated to commence on September 9, 2026.
