Senate confirms Muttaqha Rabe Darma as Minister

The Senate of Nigeria has confirmed Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following a screening session held in the upper chamber.
The confirmation came after a question-and-answer session during which the nominee was assessed by lawmakers on his experience, competence, and suitability for ministerial appointment.
His confirmation follows a communication sent earlier by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who formally requested the screening and confirmation of Darma as a ministerial nominee.

The letter from the President was read on Wednesday during plenary by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio. After reading the request, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative consideration, with a directive to report back to the chamber as soon as practicable.
Following the screening process and subsequent deliberations, the Senate approved and confirmed Darma’s appointment, paving the way for him to officially assume duties as a member of the Federal Executive Council.
