Federal High Court clarifies Chief Judge’s readiness to appear before Code of Conduct Bureau

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has clarified that its Chief Judge, John Terhemba Tsoho, is fully prepared to honour an invitation from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
In a press statement issued on Monday, the court explained that Justice Tsoho remains committed to cooperating with the Bureau in line with legal and constitutional provisions. However, it noted that the Chief Judge has chosen to exercise his constitutional right to be represented by counsel of his choice.
According to the statement, his legal representative, Kanu Godwin Agabi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has expressed readiness to accompany the Chief Judge to the CCB upon his return to the country. Agabi is currently outside Nigeria for medical reasons.
The court disclosed that this position has already been formally communicated to the Bureau, reaffirming Justice Tsoho’s willingness to appear and participate fully in the process in accordance with the law and established constitutional safeguards.

For scheduling purposes, the CCB has been informed that any date within the week beginning Monday, March 16, 2026, would be convenient for both the Chief Judge and his counsel.
The statement concluded by reiterating Justice Tsoho’s commitment to due process, transparency, and respect for the rule of law.
The press release was signed by Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, Director of Information, Federal High Court of Nigeria, and dated Monday, March 2, 2026.
