BREAKING: AMAC Chairman-Elect Maikalangu donates borehole to NUJ FCT

The Chairman-Elect of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, has donated a borehole to the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council as part of efforts to support grassroots development and strengthen collaboration with the media.
The donation was disclosed on Thursday during a congratulatory courtesy visit by the NUJ FCT Council leadership following Maikalangu’s victory in last Saturday’s municipal elections.
The NUJ delegation was led by its Chairman, Grace Ike, who was represented at the meeting by the Vice Chairman of Council, Yahaya Ndambabo.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Ndambabo expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the borehole donation, describing it as a demonstration of the chairman-elect’s commitment to grassroots development and media collaboration.

He congratulated Maikalangu on what he described as a well-deserved landslide victory, noting that the outcome reflected the confidence reposed in him by residents of AMAC.
Ndambabo highlighted infrastructural projects executed during Maikalangu’s first term, particularly in Sabon Lugbe and other communities, and reaffirmed the NUJ FCT Council’s role in providing coverage and monitoring of elections across AMAC and the five other area councils in the FCT.

“This well-deserved victory reflects your people-oriented leadership, now further demonstrated by this generous donation to the NUJ FCT Council,” Ndambabo said, urging the chairman-elect to consolidate on his achievements in his second term.
In his response, Maikalangu thanked the NUJ FCT Council for the visit and for its consistent media support. He attributed his re-election to grassroots engagement, infrastructure development, and empowerment initiatives that resonated with voters.

“Politics is local; it is about the people at the grassroots, not just the city centres,” he said, adding that his first-term projects laid the foundation for renewed public trust.
He also commended the unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that strong grassroots mobilization contributed significantly to the high voter turnout recorded in the elections.
The borehole donation, he said, underscores his commitment to collaborative development and sustained engagement with critical stakeholders, including the media.
