National Assembly postpones resumption of plenary to March 5

The National Assembly of Nigeria has announced the postponement of its plenary session earlier scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
In an official notice signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, lawmakers were informed that the delay is necessary to allow various committees to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.
According to the statement, plenary will now reconvene in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

The leadership of the Assembly expressed regret over any inconvenience the change in schedule may cause to Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members, urging them to take note of the new date and time.
The postponement comes as committees intensify scrutiny of budget proposals, a critical stage in the legislative process before final approval. Observers say the additional time will enable lawmakers to thoroughly review submissions from ministries, departments, and agencies ahead of plenary deliberations.
