Fire guts Singa market in Kano weeks after previous blaze

A fire has broken out at the bustling Singa Market in the Gidan Glass area of Kano, reigniting fears and concerns among traders barely two weeks after the market was hit by another major fire incident.
The new outbreak was confirmed on Saturday evening by Hamisu Dan Hisbah, the Head of the Labourers Association at the market, who spoke to reporters about the development
“The fire just broke out 10 minutes ago. We don’t know what caused it yet, but the fire service have arrived and they are trying to contain it,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire remained unknown, while emergency responders were working to prevent further spread.
The latest incident comes barely two weeks after a fire outbreak at Mazaf Plaza within Singa Market destroyed goods worth millions of naira, raising concerns among traders over recurring fire incidents in the area.
