Panic in Osun community as gunmen abduct 2 residents in midnight attack

Fear has gripped residents of Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State after two people were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday night.
The quiet border town, which sits between Osun and Kwara states, was thrown into panic when the attackers stormed a private residence along the Ara-Orim Road around midnight and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
Sources within the community said the gunmen carried out the operation swiftly, leaving residents shaken and worried about their safety.
Ora-Igbomina has faced similar security concerns in recent times. Late last year, the town made headlines when a retired customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped, raising fears about increasing criminal activities in the area.

A source simply identified as Adesina told Vanguard on Monday that the gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the said residence late at night and forcefully took the victims away.
Confirming the incident, Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims.
“The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m on Sunday. Our men who went for patrol but went back to their base when the rain started to fall. It was during that period that those people perpetrated that evil act.
“Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. The search and rescue teams moved in immediately after the report got to us. They have been combing the area,” he said.
