Attack in Kano claims lives of mother, 6 children

A shocking and tragic incident has rocked Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano State, where a mother, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children were brutally killed by unknown assailants. The attack has left the local community in deep mourning.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the tragic event in an official statement. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that law enforcement received a distress call at approximately 12:10 PM, alerting authorities to an attack on the residence of Haruna Bashir in Dorayi ChiranchiPolice said the assailants used dangerous weapons on the victims, inflicting injuries that led to their deaths.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, deployed a team of officers to the scene. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
The bodies of the victims were evacuated and taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead.
The Commissioner of Police also directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, to head an investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible for the attack.

The police command expressed sympathy with the family of the victims, as well as residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the wider Kano State community.
The incident was reportedly broadcast live on Facebook by Freedom Radio Nigeria on Saturday, January 17, 2027.
Reports further indicated that the attackers threw an infant into a well after killing the woman and her children.
