Nigerian University expels 60 students over exam malpractice

Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has taken a firm stance against academic dishonesty by expelling 60 students for their alleged involvement in examination malpractice.

The university made the announcement in its official bulletin released on Friday,

According to the bulletin, the expulsions were approved during the 431st meeting of the university’s senate held on 7 January, after the consideration of reports submitted by the relevant academic and disciplinary committees.

The senate disclosed that the affected students were found guilty of different forms of examination misconduct and were subsequently recommended for expulsion in line with the institution’s existing regulations.

The bulletin explained that the sanctions were applied in accordance with category 20.17 (Ai-xiii) of the General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR) and section 3.4.2 (Ai-xi) of the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRAPS), where applicable.
