Soldiers intercept suspected ISWAP supply vans in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted two pickup vans suspected to be conveying logistics supplies meant for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State, dealing a setback to the terrorist group’s operations.
The interception followed credible intelligence reports indicating the movement of the supplies along a known route used by insurgents. Acting on the tip-off, the troops mounted a targeted operation in the Magumeri general area, where the vehicles were successfully stopped.
According to Makama, sector 2 troops, in collaboration with members of the civilian joint task force (CJTF), stopped the vehicles during the operation and arrested the drivers for further interrogation.
The publication said items recovered from the vehicles include 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, and one mattress.

Other items recovered are five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, nylon bags containing garri, adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones and N92,600 in cash.
It added that the vehicles and the recovered items are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing to establish the suspects’ level of involvement and possible links to ISWAP logistics networks.
Makama said the troops reaffirmed their commitment to disrupting supply routes to terrorist groups and sustaining pressure on criminal elements within their area of responsibility
