Taraba governor Agbu Kefas set to defect to APC

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has announced that he will officially dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Kefas made the disclosure on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing renovation works at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, the venue selected for the high-profile defection rally.
According to the governor, his move to the APC is guided by what he believes will best serve the long-term interests of the people of Taraba, noting that the decision aligns with his vision for sustained development and political stability in the state.
“On the 19th of November, I will officially transition from PDP to APC. This movement is about the destiny of the people of Taraba, and we are expecting many visitors for the ceremony,” he said.

When pressed on whether the APC had placed any terms before accepting him, Kefas said he would address the matter fully during his official declaration so residents can “judge for themselves.”
Members of the state executive council have also thrown their weight behind him. Representing the cabinet, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Muslim Aruwa, said the team remains united behind the governor’s political direction.
“The Governor is our leader. Wherever he goes, we move with him—be it APC, SDP, or ADC. This alignment with the Federal Government is for the good of all citizens, not for personal gain. It is about bringing development to the state,” Aruwa stated.
“This movement is not just for the governor, but for the entire people of Taraba State, and we are with him 100 percent,” he added.
