PSC promotes over 400 police officers, names new DIG

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dankwara Mohammed to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), representing the North-East geopolitical zone.

Mohammed’s elevation follows the retirement of DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya, whom he now succeeds.

In a statement issued on Friday by the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission also announced the promotion of Commissioner of Police Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

The statement read in part, “The Commission also approved the promotion of CP Abibo Deinma Reuben from the rank of Commissioner to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

“The Commission further approved the promotion of eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police to the next rank of Substantive Commissioners. They are Naziru Bello Kankarofi; Nendel Joseph Gomwalk; Tijani Olaiwola Fatai; Wilson Aniefiok Akpan; Morkwap Dongshal; and Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf. Others are Cletus Nwadiogbu, Deputy Commissioner, Finance and Administration, Taraba State; Ahmed Mohammed Bello; Abdulraheem Nurudeen; Patrick Daaor and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.”

In addition, 13 Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, while 44 Chief Superintendents rose to Assistant Commissioners.

Similarly, 412 Superintendents were elevated to Chief Superintendents, and several Deputy Superintendents confirmed as substantive Superintendents.

PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to recommit themselves to the service of the nation. He reminded them that advancement in rank comes with greater responsibilities and expectations.
